SINT-LIEVENS-HOUTEM - Voortaan kan je het erfgoed en de natuur van Zonnegem ontdekken via een digitale wandeling. Dankzij de Zonnegemse Zot loop je niet verloren.
Zonnegem is de kleinste Houtemse deelgemeente en is opvallend landelijk en groen gebleven.
Route42, het samenwerkingsverband tussen zes bibliotheken in Zuid-Oost-Vlaanderen, ontwikkelde met medewerking van het natuureducatief centrum De Pastorie een interactieve wandeling via gps of smartphone.
Projectcoördinator Koen De Keukeleire: 'De wandeling richt zich tot gezinnen met kinderen en tot schoolgroepen. Per groep van een vijftal wandelaars neem je een draagbare gps of een smartphone mee en die leidt je door het boeiende Zonnegems landschap langs de oude Zonnegemse brouwerij, de Sint-Antoniuskapel, kasseiwegen, velden en bossen en een merkwaardig stiltepunt. Het digitaal toestel geeft de route aan en af en toe krijgt de wandelaar leuke filmpjes en meerkeuzevragen die bij wijze van spel of wedstrijd beantwoord kunnen worden. Op het scherm zorgt de Zonnegemse Zot (in de gedaante van Jeuk-toneelsteler Bart D'Hauwe) samen met entertainer Dietwin de Jodelaar voor de vrolijke noot. De Zonnegemse Zot verwijst naar de naam van een streekbiertje dat ontwikkeld werd door de brouwerij in de Steenstraat.
Wie zelf over een eigen geavanceerde gps of een smartphone beschikt, zal weldra de nodige software kunnen downloaden via zijn computer. In afwachting biedt de Houtemse bibliotheek gratis smartphones aan ter beschikking na betaling van een waarborg.
Het natuureducatief centrum De Pastorie stelt smartphones ter beschikking aan schoolgroepen.
Het digitaal wandelproject wordt gesubsidieerd met Europees geld en de Cera Foundation.
